Opposing Discourses of Terror:

The primary goal of the paper is to examine how Turkish and Russian Governments are using term terrorist in their diplomatic communication towards Syrian conflict. Following introduction, study outlines theoretical framework – namely securitisation theory –, then presents a concept terrorism, which focusing on instrumentalisation label discursive processes. Henceforward, attempts accomplish aforementioned by examining security discourses two interrelated issues war: Turkey’s Operation Peace Spring October 2019, Russian–Syrian offensive codenamed Dawn Idlib between April 2019 March 2020. Based detailed analysis relevant speeches articles given or written high-ranking diplomats, displays states justified military interventions, defined own roles, framed non-governmental actors involved conflicts. According conclusion author, despite numerous similarities discourses, Turkey Russia define oppositely, who is, not Syria, constitutes major collision point geostrategic perspectives.
